Grief tends to arrive with an unspoken deadline attached — an assumption that there’s a “normal” amount of time to feel this, after which you should be mostly done. That pressure rarely comes from the grief itself. It comes from how uncomfortable loss makes everyone around it.
Grief that gets rushed doesn’t actually resolve faster — it just goes underground, and tends to resurface later in less recognizable forms. Making room for it, on its own timeline, is usually what allows it to actually move.
